"My dad told me if 1 could get my grades up he'd
let me start racing this season." Those were the words of a very young
Brady Demeree, who spoke to me here recently, about how his incredible
season got under way this past year. This young competitor had been
running a Go-Kart in
the
very early part of the 2004 season, and his dad got him in a Micro
Midget, and the feature wins started rolling in almost immediately.
Readers this young competitor is just ten years old, and has just raced
up his first major open wheel points title at JRP. Running a 250cc, plus
a restricted 600cc, this very young and very talented driver wound up
taking home a whopping twenty-two feature wins over this past season,
and his entire family are hoping that this may just be the start of
things to come.1 managed to talk to this
young lad recently, as well as his dad Brad Demeree, just to find out
how everything got started this past season, and the elder Mr. Demeree
said, "Well, we actually did this on a whim. I managed to sell my
business earlier this year. I talked a few things over with my wife
Teresa, and we decided to use part of the money to let my son, Brady
race on. He had been running a Go-Kart in the very beginning of this
season, and he had his grades up real well. So, I talked to him about
some things, and I decided to buy him a 600cc restricted car. A Micro
Midget. I wanted him to have some good dirt experience. I figured that
if nothing else, his experience in the car would help him on his sliding
and things like that with the Kart. At the same time, this other
gentlemen had another 600cc midget. I thought, "Well, we got JRP, so
I'll just pick up both cars and run one on asphalt and the other on
dirt." After I bought them, I decided to go up to Will Rogers up in
Claremore, and watch those these 600's run. I watched those things out
there, and man they were fast. So, I thought maybe I had better look at
the 250cc for Brady. It just so happened; a buddy of mine (Paul Beyers)
had one for sale for about $2000.1 bought it, and he helped me set it
up. I figured it would be food for him to learn in it. So, we put him in
it, and he wound up winning in it his third time out. I think he
finished second on his first try. He wound up winning twelve features
there at Will Rogers with eight being in a row. He turned out to be a
natural.
